We have all listened to the ongoing debate between us, the ”radical culture elements”, and them, those ”who don’t understand the value of culture”. This is an effort to start an internal debate among artists that does not concern itself with ”the others”, but with what we can do to ensure the survival of our respective art forms and make them thrive.
We invite institutions, independent partnerships, individual actors, artists and other creative people to come up with an answer to the question: How can we make a consolidated effort to open up the field to each other and to other players?
Why should it be such a difficult thing to do? The theatre is lagging behind at a time when anyone can publish their texts and pictures on the Internet. Why doesn’t the same diversity and level of direct democracy exist within the sphere of the theatre?
How can institutions and independent players find ways of exchanging knowledge and experience? What’s in it for the institutions, what’s in it for the independent partnerships and what’s in it for the consumers?
Apart from representatives from Dramaten, the participants include Elin Lindgren, artistic director of the Lilith performance studio in Malmö; Catrin Lundqvist, curator at Moderna Museet in Stockholm; Birgitta Englin, managing director of Riksteatern; Eric Sjöström artistic director of Kulturhuset and PRODUKT - koreografisk idéverkstad.

Moderna Teatern develops concepts and drama productions, often in co-operation with other theatres, artists and creative people. They also work with drama projects commissioned by the state, local authorities or business and industry.
CROSSOVER at Moderna Teatern is a project that promotes networking and co-operation between performing artists and other creative artists regardless of experience, age and race. One example of this is this seminar.
