For the first time, Ingmar Bergman’s Scenes from a Marriage will be performed on stage in Sweden. The play, based on the 1973 TV series, will premiere in August on Dramaten’s Small Stage. During the Festival, visitors will have the opportunity to see open rehearsals.

Stefan Larsson is the director and the married couple will be played by Jonas Karlsson and Livia Millhagen.

"Circles close. When I started out as an artistic director for the Dramaten stage Elverket, I soon introduced open rehearsals. This is what Ingmar Bergman did when he was rehearsing Woyzeck back in the late 1960s, and I was quick to imitate him. In my opinion, it’s a simple way of illustrating how we build up a production, while at the same time opening up a dialogue with the audience. This provides us with a means to reflect on and explore their reactions. And this time I will even be working with a Bergman script." Stefan Larsson, director.
