Festival press release Nov 6 2008

The Ingmar Bergman International Theatre Festival at Dramaten is a major event on the theatre scene. The currently most exciting artists in the world will be focusing on Ingmar Bergman’s long and productive professional life by performing some of their best productions, incorporating contemporary and classical drama as well as Ingmar Bergman’s own texts. During ten wonderful summer days the theatre itself and the surrounding area will be buzzing with forward-looking debates and other encounters dealing with the performing arts; and there will be shows, broadcasts, audio performances and exhibitions based on the film, television and radio productions. We welcome theatre and film lovers in Stockholm, Sweden and the rest of the world to share this generous and eventful occasion.

In the spirit of Bergman and with curiosity as our motto, we open our doors on May 27, 2009. The festival will close on June 6.
